E KU SU TU RA A SHI RA BU RU ZU (EXTRA SYLLABLES)

I have never tried to find out who it was that invented katakana, probably because I hate the language so much. I think it is a huge barrier for Japanese people who want to learn English or other languages correctly.
I say we start a petition right now to ban katakana from the Japanese language so Japanese people can start learning how to pronounce foreign words properly.

What was the person that invented katakana thinking? Was that person trying to make learning foreign words easier? I think that person was trying to take the easy way out, and ended up making learning English even more difficult.

My favorite katakana word is Ma ku do na ru do zu. Say that in Japanese though and you can't be too lazy. The word is several times longer than the English version of pronunciation.
