It seems that almost everything I buy new has had a problem with it within the first few months. My AIWA was in the trash after the first year because it would have cost more to fix it than to replace it with a new one. Unfortunately, I haven't bought one since then. Most of my music is played on my computer or my handheld PC.

But all the used stuff I've bought, to take an overly used expression from Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. My handheld PC was purchased used. And I haven't had a problem with it yet, except for the fact I had to replace the screen because I stepped on it and broke it. But it still worked before and afterwards. So has my Sony CyberShot camera bought used at Yamada Denki for 5000 yen.

My new CyberShot had screen problems within the first year. I had to get it repaired every year for the first three years. Finally, they did something to it where it has gone three years without any problems.

Usually, the used stuff has already been to the shop a few times and had the kinks worked out. So the only way they fail is when the parts wear out.

I remember when I turned 16. My parents bought me a brand new Onkyo stereo receiver, tape player and turntable. They are still working today and that was 23 years ago. They have never had one single problem!

I wish electronics companies made stuff like that these days. Actually, considering that, the next time I go buy a stereo receiver, I'm gonna buy an Onkyo. Hopefully, they still make them like they used to.
