Trump Dealing a Bad Hand

Donald Trump spoke out today about Rosie, the American flag, Saddam Hussein’s hanging and the Iraqi War.

His fight with Rosie O’Donnell is between her and him. I’m sure someone will sort things out; most likely their attorneys.

As for the flag, his fight with the city of Palm Beach is way overdue. Being born and raised in the Palm Beach area, I know firsthand how crazy the rules and laws can be there. I remember when it was against the law to run around Palm Beach shirtless, a law imposed to keep women from running around topless. Now, apparently, it is against the rules or laws of Palm Beach for anyone to fly an American flag. So Donald Trump has filed suit against the city just to keep his flag flying high. It will be interesting to see what comes from this law suit.

As for Mr Trump’s remarks on Saddam Hussein’s execution and the Iraqi War, first read what he said below.

Donald Trump’s remarks: - He just overplayed his hand. If you’ve ever seen anybody overplay a hand, this is the case. He could of let everybody in, let the United Nations in, inspect whatever you want, inspect the bathrooms, the living rooms, whatever you want to inspect. As it turned out, he didn’t have any weapons of mass destruction. I mean there was nothing he was even hiding. All he had to do was let them in and he would have been fine. He would right now be the dictator of a very strong country, I mean you know, a relatively strong country. What he did is amazing. And to end up this way in incredible….(question from reporter)

I don’t know if it is a victory for America. I’m very strongly opposed to the war. We shouldn’t have gone in there in the first place. It was a total disaster. I feel as soon as we leave a person smarter, tougher and more vicious than Saddam Hussein is going to take office. So I don’t know if that is a victory, but certain he wasn’t a good fellow and his death is not something that particularly bothers me. But when you think of it from his perspective, all he had to do was say, “Come on in folks. Take a look and then let me go back to ruling my country.” And by the way, we would have been better off also. - Donald Trump speaking to FOX News

Now, I would like to comment on Mr Trump’s remarks. I don’t think he is completely off base. Sure, if Saddam had of let the inspectors into his country to search around unabated, he might be still ruling the country. But then again, if he had of let inspectors roam freely throughout the grounds, searching wherever they wanted, they might have found WMDs and all sorts of other goodies that would have put him right where is is now, 6 feet below. But of course, we’ll never know the answer to that question and anyone can spout out whatif rhetoric.

And as far as his remarks on the war being a disaster, I bet if Mr Trump went and made these same remarks in front of the Iraqi people, I bet the majority of them would say, while beating him up for saying it, that they are better off now than they were when Saddam was ruling. I find it so difficult to listen to anyone say Iraq and the Iraqis would be better off if Saddam were still running the country after all the bodies that have been dug up in mass grave sites around Iraq and the stories people have told about being beaten and tortured by his brothers and his military. I have heard similar stories from Iraqi people who moved to America to get away from his regime to believe that there is no way in this world Iraqis could be better off with Saddam Hussein still in power.

If I were Iraqi and anywhere close to Palm Beach now, I would be knocking on Donald Trump’s Palm Beach house dressed in both an American and Iraqi flags asking him if the freedom he has is worth fighting for. I would ask him if he would like to be under such a dictator as Saddam where everyday he had to live in fear for his life, his money and his wealth. I bet Mr Trump would have a different answer for them than the one he just made in his latest interview.
