How We Contribute to An Immoral Society

A NOTE: There are tons of factors that weigh into our society, the world, becoming an immoral place. So many, I don’t have the strength today to write about them all. So here are just a few of the main ones I think people need to be aware of.

“The morals of society reflect the respect or lack of respect we have for ourselves and others, and ultimately, our belief in God!”

The media points out that Americans and British are getting fatter all the time. But it’s not just an American or British problem. It’s a world thing. Japanese are getting fatter too! So are Europeans, as are New Zealanders and Australians. Even Africans are getting fatter, at least the rich ones! The fatter an African is, the richer he or she is. It’s a well-known status symbol. If you are a plump African, you must have lots of money!

Eating too much is not good for our health, physically, mentally and spiritually. Eating too much though has become a way of life. Many people around the world are obese, and not just a little bit. Some are extremely overweight! For some it is from genetics. But for others, it comes from the lack of healthy eating habits, poor exercise, organization, education, time management and so on. But it also comes from gluttony.

Gluttony stems from selfishness. We horde over and lust after things whether they be food, drink or monetary goods. Gluttony has become a way of life. Advertisements teach us to want more. TV and commercials tell us we need more. In the world’s eyes, if we don’t have a lot of possessions, we aren’t really worth much. Or at least that is what many are being fooled into believing.

Once we get a hold of something, for some of us, we can’t let go. Some people horde things their whole lives. Their houses are filled with stuff they’ve saved over the years. Their houses become so crowded with junk it becomes difficult to walk around inside. They just can’t find it within themselves to throw anything away. And when they die, they leave all that trash behind for someone else to deal with. Too bad they can’t take it with them! No one can!

Many people can’t throw food away. They feel ashamed to throw uneaten food away. They’ve learned that some starving child could be eating it. So instead of throwing the little pieces of food away in the trash can, they eat it and feel better about it…for the time being…until their stomachs tell them a different story.

Of course, with so many people starving in so many places around the world, it’s a shame that the countries where fat people live can’t do more! But then, giving handouts to people is not wise either. In these cases, instead of sucking down every last bit of food, we could put it away in the refrigerator and eat it another day. This would help save money each month and give many people extra cash to buy necessities for themselves or for their kids. They could also use the extra money to tithe or donate to an organization or church that would find a good use for it. In most cases, churches use the money to send people like missionaries to foreign countries to build houses, businesses and infrastructure, and provide medicine, and aid to help people develop better communities and lives.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12

God gives us great wisdom to follow. But the key here is if. We have to first believe in God’s Word in order to follow it.

For many God does not exist. I find this really funny because I can’t see how anyone can deny God exists. Many think He is some imaginative fictitious being some brilliant man…or woman…thought up. Whoever that person was must have been really really smart, because I could not fathom up such a character in all my wildest dreams. How some human could put together God is beyond my understanding. And then for a bunch of people over hundreds of years to somehow work together in conspiracy to write about this so called fictitious God and then use those writings to put together a book, The Book, the Bible, that so many historians and scientists use for facts boggles my mind. For me, believing in God is not difficult. Believing in Jesus Christ is not difficult either. But of course, being able to believe in Jesus as ones Savior is not for everyone. If it were, we’d all be Christians. Believing in Jesus takes an open mind and an open heart. Too many people around the world have hardened hearts. But then, tell that to them. They accuse Christians of being hard-hearted all the time.

Before I get back to my main topic, there is one more thing I find really funny and that is the topic of open-mindedness. Liberals claim to be so open-minded about life, liberty and the pursuits of happiness, nature and so on, but yet are the most close-minded people I’ve ever met. When a liberal talks about God, they completely shutdown their ability to open up to what a Christian has to say. They immediately start regurgitating things they’ve read by others just like them like they know what they’re talking about and try to stifle anything the other person is trying to say. It’s like their ears were all of a sudden taped up! Okay, it’s not funny. It’s really sad.

Anyhow, back to piece…

Close-mindedness is really sad, but so is the state of the world today, or at least a large majority of it. There is too much lewdness today. And it seems like it is only getting worse. A great amount of it is often encouraged in society. Sex is commonplace and often used in marketing of movies, TV, products, lifestyles and services. We are becoming preoccupied with sex and sexual desires, how we can fulfill our personal pleasures and lusts.

Obscenity and indecency are also commonplace. Our overall focuses in life are money and fame. Many dream of living a lifestyle of luxury relaxing on a beach somewhere sipping cocktails soaking up the sun and fun. Hedonism is the way of life and happiness is the higher good.

We are becoming selfish. Our attitudes are me first, others second. We look to help others only after we’ve helped ourselves. Even with the numerous contributions nations and people make to foreign aid, we still spend far more time on ourselves than we do on helping others. Many send money because it is easier to send money than it is for them to get off their butts and do any sort of labor, outreach or community service. Shoot, these days, community service is punishment. In our courts, at least in America, people do community service only after doing something terribly wrong against society. They are sent to do 30 days or 60 days of community service. Actually, community service for criminals is not that bad an idea, but my point is that most only do community service if forced.

Now onto families.

Husbands spend more time away from home, working and playing, than they do with their families. Mothers spend more time with their friends, watching TV, and working than they do with their families. Children spend more time at school studying, doing various activities and playing with friends than they do with their families. Many don’t even want to spend time with their families.

Many people these days are filled with rage and turn to factions that lead to more hatred, dissent and selfishness. Teachers and professors contribute by spreading dissent. Many teachers and professors teach their students to question everything in authority; their parents, teachers, government. Dissent or be called a fool!

Schools around the world, and more specifically the United States, are providing their students with curriculum that is crude, vulgar and violent. They justify their actions by calling it art, literary open-mindedness and ideology. And many schools and educators allow immoral information into their schools over moral information. Why? Because they hate anything moral? To the contrary, many hate not because it’s moral, but because it opposes them.

Also disturbing is that several of the gays identified themselves as educators who would ensure that our teen materials do not reach schoolchildren as gay materials do. http://www.debrajmsmith.com

If you are a parent, I hope this article makes you aware that there are people in the world that will go against everything you do just because they feel like it, because they don’t like you and they want to rub what they believe in your face and make you choke on it. They do it in spite. You will come across many who are in education that do not believe in God and will do anything in their power to bring what they believe to your child, not what you believe. They don’t care what you believe even though it is your child they teach. They want your child to grow up knowing what they think they should know, and will oppose anyone and anything that is the opposite, even if it is the truth staring them right in the face!

[9] Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

If you don’t know how to speak up or don’t know anyone that has your same views, go to church! You’ll find lots of people there with similar views. But make sure it’s a conservative church, not a liberal one because the majority of liberal churches often pervert the Word of God to fit their desires and ways of life.
