China - Japan Tensions Ease

China and Japan have a great deal of grievances between one another; history books, Yasukuni Shrine, the East Sea, the Dalai Lama, human rights and many other things. But the recent earthquake in China has enabled both of the countries to put aside their differences, at least for the time being.

Japan has sent another group of relief aid workers to China, the third group since 1989 to step on Chinese soil to assist with a disaster.

Japan dispatched a small number of rescuers to China in 1989 when floods occurred and in 2003 when the SARS virus broke out.

The most recent group sent to China, however, represents the largest one sent yet.

Hopefully, the people receiving the aid will be able to put aside their differences as well as the government has. It would be hard to believe that anyone in need of assistance would bite the hand that feeds it, or in this case, the hand that helps pull one out from underneath rubble.
